Everything starts from a dream.  Some dreams come true and some do not.  Keep on dreaming because half of the dream is reality.

My dream of completing my knowledge and understanding of Taekwondo was on my mind but Taekwondo was taught only to police and the military forces.  I struggled to find a way to get involved in learning the art of Taekwondo.  While still in Nepal I met Master Shin, the father of Nepal Taekwondo, who was invited by the Nepal government from Korea to teach Taekwondo in Nepal.

I continue my training in the art of Taekwondo knowing that there are no limits in discovery.  Ive attained much self-respect, and a great feeling of achievement, and feel blessed to have been guided on this path.

My ultimate goal was to express my talent and reach people all over the worldFinally, the opportunity to fulfill my dream came and in the summer of 1992, I arrived in Los Angeles, California.  Opportunities came to exchange various techniques of different styles of martial arts with different Masters.
Today I am here in Portland teaching my art and philosophy to my students of Oregon.

Grand Master Shin and Master Bee

As a true martial artist, martial arts has not only given me the physical benefits of the art but also deeper psychological meaning.  In every step of life, the elements of perseverance, self-control, and physical discipline play an integral part and ultimately, those traits make a person strong and confident.

My first introduction to the nunchaku began in Nepal at the age of 12.  When I asked my cousin to teach me the nunchaku, his reply was that it is too complicated and difficult for such a young boy to learn.   That very day, I made a nunchaku out of bamboo and started to practice.  As soon as I picked up my first nunchaku, I came out of the darkness and saw the light of my future.  Not having any master made it possible to create and develop my own technique in the art of nunchaku.

The Nunchaku exponent should always feel that there is no you and Nunchaku, but Nunchaku within you.

Shun Ken Do
stay away from knowledge action
The knowledge of staying away from any situation by action is called Shunkendo.  Shunkendo is not only used for the art of combat, but for ordinary life as well.  In ordinary life you are practicing Shunkendo by avoiding negative behaviors like drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and physical and emotional abuse of yourself and others.
Learning to react without responsive action from a negative energy source will ultimately fulfill completion of the act.  Perceptiveness, knowledge, and wisdom are more important than technique in Shunkendo.  Perception alone accounts for an awareness of the environment.  Knowledge alone is limited by perception.  Wisdom is a condition of being wise and one who attains awareness without limitations.
Knowledge is the true armor of a human being.  With this armor, a person could face many ferocious animals and defend himself and be able to save his own precious life.  Man can carefully reason and defend himself by adapting to the surrounding environment.
Shunkendo focuses on an understanding of every style of martial arts and, the vital parts of the human body.  Understanding the different styles of martial arts and comprehending human anatomy gives the Shunkendo practitioner more knowledge about his opponent.  He can do the maximum amount of damage to the opponent in a minimal amount of time.
Shunkendo is based on true fighting.  It is about survival.  From the very beginning, since life has existed on this planet, the combative arts existed.  Every creation fought for existence and survival.  In fact, martial art is the art of combative form.  It is not a sport.  In this modern world, unfortunately, people suffer strife from the hands of others.  It becomes necessary for the people to understand and learn the knowledge of survival.  This knowledge becomes the hope of the individual.  This knowledge is Shunkendo.

Shunkendo is the art of the twenty-first century.
This is the knowledge within the art that gives the practitioner
great confidence in any situation.

Train your body and mind with only positive thought.  Avoid all the negative thought.  This is the simple and direct way of Shunkendo.

Philosophy

There is no such thing as real peace and satisfaction in human life but in martial arts you will find the way to calm your mind.

Learning martial arts is like searching the universe for truth.  There is no end for both.

Your opponent is not just an opponent, but the techniques that you learn something from him in the art of combat.

A martial artist without a good understanding of the arts is not a real martial artist but only a show off.

Your worst enemy is not around you but within you anger and hatred.  If you defeat them, you defeat anything around you.

The ultimate goal of every martial artist is self-defense.  As a true martial artist one should respect all the arts and try to have knowledge of all of them.  There is beauty in every art.

Not only Orientals are virtuous.  Every race deserves to learn martial arts and be the best.  In fact, we are all family under the blue sky.  It just happened that we look different by the color of our skin.  But, inside our skin there is no difference.  We all are virtuous.

Nothing is impossible.  You have to believe in yourself.

To create new ideas and techniques is human being.  But following all the time given ideas and techniques is mechanical.  You are a creative individual.  Be who you are.

Martial arts are the total expression of the human body.  Being free in martial arts, you naturally express your bodys tools without thinking of the opponents action- you just react.

When a meteorite hits the ocean, it creates a wave so powerful that it impacts thousands and thousands of acres of land.  A fighter with a winning attitude can create the same impact in the battlefield if he uses his knowledge correctly.

People have misconceptions about different versions of martial arts.  Actually, there is not any difference between this and that style.  A person creates styles.  In reality, every style is for self-defense and the root of every style comes from Martial arts.

Victory gives total happiness in a life that is full of struggle.  When a person fights hard to win his competition and finally becomes victorious, he feels relaxed and joyful.  He forgets all of his pain and fatigue.  That moment becomes one of the happiest moments of his life.

Fear is your worst enemy.  First of all, get victory over it.  When you do not have fear, you will win any fight with any one at any time.
